Bokeh Filter in Class

Bokeh Filter in Class

Yesterday and today my students used their DIY Bokeh Filters for the first time. Before they used them, they didn’t believe me or understand at all what would happen to the lights. I hung up Christmas lights from a backdrop holder and shut off all the lights in the classroom. The students stood about 20-30 feet away from the lights and with a Canon EF 75-300mm lens, they began to see the shape of their filter appear. This was probably the high light of my semester seeing their reactions. They continued to shoot with different shapes and different shutter speeds. This picture is a student example. They will be taking their filters home this weekend to try it with other light sources. I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
